SIMSINLIFTS winners at the Business Tech Awards share insights into the lift industry.

The lift industry is changing fast, with smarter shafts, advanced control systems, and energy-efficient designs all transforming performance. Despite being relied upon heavily in an emergency, however, communications are often left behind, overlooked in favour of higher-visibility elevator features typically less critical to passenger safety and lift-company reputation.

Dissatisfied with this status quo, SIMSINLIFTS seized the opportunity to address this blatant gap in sector development, creating a series of simpler, safer solutions for all. Its multi-roam sim cards designed specifically for lift use automatically connect to the strongest available mobile network for guaranteed emergency call connection in the post-landline era, for example. Meanwhile, the start-up’s Lift Sim Manager allows elevator providers to manage, activate, and assess their entire communications fleet remotely, in real time, for complete, efficient, error-free oversight. SIMSINLIFTS has even connected its pioneering solutions to its sister telecoms company, Prime Connect, to bring the advanced telephony features operators need to automatically receive a caller’s location into the sector’s development equation.

The difference this has made has earned SIMSINLIFTS significant recognition at the UK Business Tech Awards 2025 – a win that underscores the importance of placing strong communication technologies at the heart of the lift industry moving forward.

Why lift communication matters

More than just a call button on the passenger control panel, SIMSINLIFTS’ reliable offerings reassure passengers, guarantee compliance for operators, and increasingly, provide opportunities for data-backed growth.

“Lifts are becoming cleverer each day”, explains Chaim Grunfeld, SIMSINLIFTS Founder. “However, the outdated technologies we’re allowing to remain are silently compromising elevator company growth and trust, not to mention putting passengers at significant, preventable danger. By modernising lift communications infrastructure and sharing capable management tools, we’ve made it possible for operators to deliver faster, more capable, compliant responses that are better aligned with present-day needs. This is about so much more than protecting budgets and reputations. We’re also saving lives”.

Recognition at the height of advancement

Since being founded in late 2023, SIMSINLIFTS has steadily built momentum on the back of the above merit. In addition to the consistent stream of industry firsts it’s introduced in such a short time – each now considered business critical by existing and prospective clients – the start-up has earned significant external recognition and validation. Earlier this year, SIMSINLIFTS was named a finalist in three categories of the Property Week Tech Innovation Awards, 2025 (results to be announced this October).

Each nod reflects continued confidence in SIMSINLIFTS’ future direction as well as achievements already consolidated. Described as “a truly industry-defining solution” by the UK Business Tech Awards judges, SIMSINLIFTS feels particularly proud to have been recognised for the ways in which it addresses the emergency connectivity challenge proactively, with tech innovation that’s both commercially viable and socially impactful.

The major client partnerships and consistent media coverage that SIMSINLIFTS has secured throughout this early growth process likewise underscores the start-up’s relevance and success. UK Business Tech Awards judges were particularly impressed by the fact that so much has been achieved with minimal overheads and strong early ROI, lauding the company “one of the most deserving innovations this year” in their feedback.

Receiving such praise from seasoned experts is particularly meaningful to founders, Chaim Grunfeld and Chaim Berkowicz. Not only is SIMSINLIFTS technology being recognised for its novelty, but for its real-world impact, scalability, and business viability, as well.

“Winning Best Tech Startup after just two short years is a powerful reminder that we’re already achieving what we set out to do: solve a critical gap in emergency communication across the lift market. And it’s proof that our vision resonates deeply with both industry and tech leaders, too” says Chaim Berkowicz, SIMSINLIFTS Founder. “When judges really see us – appreciating the technology and vision that goes into SIMSINLIFTS on an ongoing basis – it gives us confidence to keep pushing onwards”.

Continuing the ascent

Of course, this award win is far from the finish-line for a company so eager to make a genuine difference. SIMSINLIFTS will continue elevating standards, expanding in both size and purpose as it extends its tailored lift communications solutions to new markets across Europe. Likewise, the company will continue to innovate and build on existing success, with e-sim technology currently on the horizon. Potentially promising to allow operators to open stuck doors remotely, amongst other future-forward benefits, this will allow for even more flexibility in lift management and passenger safety moving forward.

Beyond this, the team is looking into how sim data might power additional remote capabilities and predictive diagnostics, hoping to integrate connectivity data into broader smart-building platforms shortly.

While many firms talk about digital transformation in proptech and other vital people-facing services, SIMSINLIFTS is actively demonstrating how deep, mission-driven connectivity can reshape safety and trust.

“This award is a celebration of what our technology represents” says Chaim Grunfeld. “What we’ve achieved so far has been a step change in how lift operators, building owners, and passengers alike view safety and communication in the industry. We’ve shown people how important our innovations can be through early adopter success and at trade shows like LiftEx, and the enthusiasm we’ve been met with really affirms our belief that by combining simplicity, reliability, and creative thinking, the risk we embrace to put ourselves out there can quickly transform an entire sector long overdue better infrastructure when it comes to management and emergency support”.

“We’re honoured to accept this accolade, but more than that, we’re fired up to continue innovating and developing to ensure every lift in every building around the world can be equipped with communications technologies that are confident, compliant, compassionate, and connected”, adds Chaim Berkowicz.
