In a digital era where speed, authenticity, and interactivity define success, Tickaroo has emerged as a trailblazer in real-time journalism. Our journey began in 2011 as a live reporting tool for sports coverage. As the industry evolved, our focus quickly expanded into the news industry, addressing the increasing demand for reliable, real-time, multimedia-rich reporting that drives engagement and builds trust and connection.

At Tickaroo, we are all about people writing for people, supporting an audience-first approach that goes beyond live updates to deliver insight and context on the bigger picture. By prioritising connection, inclusion, and trust, we aim to transform the way information is delivered and consumed, fostering meaningful interactions and building stronger communities.

UK Business Tech Awards: SaaS Company of the Year

Tickaroo has become an essential platform for over 350 newsrooms worldwide, helping journalists and media houses deliver high-impact, audience-driven content in real time. The nomination for SaaS Company of the Year at the UK Business Tech Awards is a testament to Tickaroo’s ability to deliver reliable, multimedia-rich content at scale.

We are determined to redefine live reporting for a new era of journalism, one where speed, authenticity, and interactivity are non-negotiable. As traditional media grapples with digital disruption, we give newsrooms the tools to adapt and thrive. Empowering publishers to build trust, drive engagement, and unlock new revenue streams, all while delivering reliable, real-time reporting, is our platform goal.

We see ourselves as more than just a tech provider, but a strategic partner for media organisations committed to transparency and audience connection. We strongly believe that our people-first philosophy and commitment to transparency play an important part in the impact we have created together with our partners. Achievements include:

  • Setting a new standard for stability and engagement in Tickaroo’s customers’ live U.S. 2024 election coverage. The software handled 1.66 million requests per minute, record traffic, and high audience engagement to power reliable, real-time election coverage across leading newsrooms such as Der Spiegel.
  • Enabling award-winning audience-first live coverage for major political events, such as the German elections with Zeit Online.
  • Introducing interactive discussion formats connecting web, live TV, and social media as championed by MDR, driving 138 Q&A interactions with election candidates in the space of an hour. Stuff’s coverage of Taylor Swift ticket sales garnered over 400 comments, while their Met Gala poll had more than 1,000 responses.
  • More than eight times longer retention rates with FAZ live blogs compared to their traditional articles.
  • 10 times more traffic for  Stears’ live blogs than a typical article on the same topic.
  • Supporting publishers to streamline editorial workflows through partnerships with various Content Management Systems (CMS) and content providers such as Stibodx, Livingdocs and 23degrees.
  • Successful demonstration of the revenue potential of live blogs with longer retention times while maintaining a positive user experience that doesn’t disrupt or annoy audiences. Regional German newspaper Westfälische Nachrichten (WN) achieved 10 subscription conversions in 3 days via its G7 Live blog. WN also reported that its soccer live blog (which is behind a paywall) had a 7.3% subscriber reach – high for them – demonstrating that subscribers value the sports live blogs.
  • Averaging over 1 million hours of media consumption per month and more than 25 million monthly page views for clients.
  • Continued expansion of Tickaroo’s reach with new clients, including Bruzz Media, Adnkronos, Alter Ego Media, and The Media Leader further establishing our credibility within the journalism sector.

Innovation that drives engagement

As newsrooms face disrupted business models and rising competition from AI and social media, Tickaroo directly addresses these challenges with a live reporting tool designed to strengthen news brands. Our platform supports sustainable revenue models, boosts efficiency, and fosters meaningful audience dialogue, helping media organisations adapt and thrive.

We support sustainable revenue models and enhance audience engagement. Through Tickaroo’s intuitive interface, even non-technical users can quickly produce engaging, real-time content through AI-powered workflows and a cross-platform design, whether from a newsroom or live event. With visual integrations, social media support, and robust SEO optimisation, our platform offers an ideal solution for publishers, event organisers, and sports organisations seeking both engagement and monetisation. This is reflected in the testimonial of Süddeutsche Zeitung’s Managing Editor, Michael König:

“With Tickaroo, we provide our readers with SZ-quality journalism in real time! The simple integration of media, other embeds, and highlight posts enables us to always provide an organised overview, even in highly dynamic news situations. The user-friendly editor is very popular among our journalists, with both reporters in the field and editors in the newsroom.”

What sets Tickaroo apart

Being nominated for SaaS Company of the Year is a proud moment for our team. It reflects our commitment to empowering journalists and transforming how stories are told. This recognition fuels our passion to keep innovating and supporting the media industry.

Our mission is clear: to democratise live reporting and ensure that trusted, real-time storytelling remains a pillar of modern media. While the classic four Ps – product, people, price, and progress – remain crucial, we focus on delivering solutions that also create meaningful societal value.

At Tickaroo, we never compromise on the core values of journalism. We champion transparent, informative reporting that serves the public interest, while also supporting media organisations to remain financially sustainable.

We’re proud to back both established media brands and emerging tech players to rethink established roles in the ecosystem. Together we’re building a future where journalistic integrity is a priority, not an afterthought.
