Running a successful business in the tech industry can be challenging, but receiving recognition for your hard work can be even harder. That is why the UK Business Tech Awards are so prestigious and desirable. However, in order to win, you need to be able to present your product in the best possible light. Lucky for you, Awards Judge, James is sharing his top five hints to give you the best chance to impress the expert panel of judges, like James.

The Tips

  1. Focus on the “so what?” of your product

When writing your application, concentrate on the main selling point of your product. You need to make it abundantly clear why your product is exceptional and why it more than deserves a prize. Be sure to outline all the unique features and benefits that your product brings and what makes it standout from other products in the industry. Essentially, if you can answer the “so what?” aspect of your business clearly and succinctly, you are going in the right direction.

  1. Keep it simple

Many of those reading through these applications, are subject matter experts and therefore, technical language and unnecessarily complex explanations are not necessary. That is why it is important to ensure that your application is easy to read, with a clear and concise writing style that judges can understand.

  1. Break it down

A well-structured application makes it much easier for the reader to navigate and understand. Use formatting such as bullet points and headings to break up the text into clear sections, so the judges can digest the information easily.

  1. Case studies sell it

Numbers, graphs, and data can only do so much to express how your product has been successful. It’s through the story of how your product has helped someone that people will truly understand the value of it. Be sure to provide real-life examples of customers who have benefited from using your product. This way, the judges can see how your product changes the lives of people for the better.

  1. Make it an enjoyable read

Do not forget that your application is not just a sales pitch but also a story. Make it an interesting and enjoyable read by demonstrating your exciting work and sharing your passion. Show that you are proud of the work you have done and that you want others to be as excited about it as you are. A good formula is to have a strong introduction, a clear middle and a summary of your passion for your product at the end.

In summary, entering the UK Business Tech Awards takes hard work and dedication. By following these top five tips, you can give yourself the best chance to impress the judges and win the respect and recognition you deserve. By focusing on the “so what?” aspect of your product, keeping your writing simple and engaging, and sharing real-life stories of success, the judges will be left in no doubt that not only is your product exceptional but that you are an incredible business leader.
