Celebrating Hemisphere Education’s Award Nominations

We’re thrilled to share that Hemisphere Education has been shortlisted for two prestigious UK Business Tech Awards: Tech for Good and Best Use of Innovation. These nominations recognise our tech-driven, forward-thinking approach to addressing bias in education.

How Hemisphere is transforming school culture

There is incontrovertible evidence of bias in UK schools and its impact on outcomes and wellbeing. We believe that individuals are the most effective and important ambassadors for change.

Hemisphere improves the racial literacy of school teachers, staff and students. It positively impacts everyone, regardless of background: racial literacy is a life skill that helps us to be more confident in all our interactions, both inside and outside school.

The platform makes racial literacy accessible to everyone: it provides a private, non-judgmental space for learning, where individuals can progress at their own pace. This privacy helps foster deep reflection and meaningful behavioral change. It also provides practical, actionable advice on both exclusionary behaviors to avoid and inclusionary behaviors to embrace, helping everyone to become part of the solution.

Hemisphere’s innovative technology

Hemisphere is a digital brain-training platform that plays a crucial role in making inclusion strategies accessible to every school. Our CPD-accredited programmes feature:

  • Engaging animation videos that break down complex topics, helping users connect emotionally and intellectually with the content.
  • Interactive exercises on best practices to engage users in a meaningful, personalised way.
  • Original research and expert insights into ethnicity bias, providing deep understanding without overwhelming.
  • Success stories that illustrate real-world change.
  • Follow-up learning through the Hemisphere Content Library to ensure ongoing engagement and action.

The use of animation in particular makes complex and potentially sensitive topics more approachable and empowering. It helps to bring everyone on the journey of learning together, making the experience positive and action-oriented.

Hemisphere offers schools a scalable, tech-enabled solution to racial inclusion. We’re democratising racial literacy education, ensuring that everyone – students, teachers, and staff – has the opportunity to participate. Schools also receive stakeholder reports with benchmarking data and clear, actionable next steps.

Hemisphere’s tech-enabled approach has led to impressive results:

Impact on Staff:

  • 85% said Hemisphere covered topics not addressed in other training or CPD
  • 87% said they’d gained a better understanding of Black children’s school experiences
  • 90% resolve to make one or more changes to their behaviour as a result of Hemisphere

One teacher remarked: “Other CPD courses raise awareness but are lacking on how to act in an antiracist way in school. I liked the direct instruction here – and feel more confident.”

Impact on Students:

  • 73% resolve to make one or more changes to their behaviour as a result of Hemisphere
  • 83% feel more confident discussing race and racism
  • 93% have a clearer understanding of how interactions can impact their own or their peers’ learning experiences

One student shared, “I will be sure to report any unwanted behaviours and also celebrate others’ success in order to make the classroom a safer and more comfortable place for everyone.” showing the programme’s capacity to cultivate empathy and reflection.

Integrating racial literacy into everyday school life can be transformative, for both individual students and the wider school community. Hemisphere is working to create a fairer, happier and more inclusive educational environment for all.
