We are thrilled to announce that Matrix iQ has been awarded the Transport Tech Company of the Year at the UK Business Tech Awards. This recognition comes as a testament to our commitment to transforming the landscape of telematics technology and driving positive change within the transport industry.

Founded in 2002, Matrix iQ has emerged as a leader in the telematics industry, boasting a dedicated team of 50 professionals. At the core of our success is SmartLink, our flagship solution—a telematics data aggregation tool that revolutionises how insurers perceive and manage fleet risk.

In the past year, our goals have been ambitious, and the outcomes have been nothing short of extraordinary. By assisting fleet insurers in reducing carbon emissions by over 840 tonnes to preventing more than 150 avoidable road traffic collisions, we’ve exceeded our targets across the board.

Our commitment to innovation is exemplified by the bespoke driver behaviour impact platform developed for a top 5 fleet insurer. This six-month project showcased our adaptability and creativity, resulting in the launch of our ground-breaking SmartView platform, the only one in the UK displaying hardware-agnostic data from over 50 different vehicle data suppliers.

Overcoming challenges is inherent to our journey. From collaborating with competitors to addressing resistance to change within the fleet insurance industry, we’ve navigated these hurdles with strategic collaborations, education campaigns, and substantial investments in resources for efficient data processing.

Matrix iQ stands at the forefront of transformative telematics technology, disrupting the established insurance model with SmartLink. This innovative solution provides insurers unprecedented access to data, revolutionising risk assessment and mitigation. In addition to reshaping the industry, Matrix iQ’s solutions contribute to saving lives and protecting the environment by preventing collisions and reducing carbon emissions.

The holistic benefits of our innovations extend to fleets, insurers, and telematics suppliers, fostering a collaborative and sustainable ecosystem. What sets us apart is our unique collaboration approach—our ability to work with competitors to create a tool that necessitates cooperation and sparks innovation on an industry-wide scale.

Beyond technological innovation, Matrix iQ is dedicated to being a responsible employer. As a Living Wage Employer, B Corp Certified entity, and actively working towards a net-zero target by 2040, we prioritise sustainability, responsible business practices, and employee welfare.

Ged Leahy, Chief Financial Officer from Matrix iQ said: “It’s a huge honour to be named the UK Business Tech Award’s 2023 Transport Tech Company of the Year. We feel incredibly proud to receive recognition for SmartLink as it reflects the commitment we’ve poured into creating positive change in the transport industry.”

This award not only acknowledges our technological impact but also underscores our dedication to enhancing employee safety, minimising environmental impact, and safeguarding valuable business assets. As we reflect on the significance of this remarkable achievement, we are motivated to continue in pushing the boundaries of innovation, driving positive change, and setting new industry standards.
