Temu is proud to be shortlisted for Ecommerce Tech Company of the Year at the Business Tech Awards, recognising our use of technology to help businesses simplify selling online and grow through e-commerce.
Temu is a global online marketplace that connects consumers with independent sellers through a technology-driven platform designed to make quality products more affordable. Operating in more than 90 markets worldwide, Temu provides the digital infrastructure, marketplace tools and logistics integrations that help businesses participate in e-commerce and scale efficiently.
Since launching in the UK in 2023, Temu has focused on making quality products accessible and affordable for all through streamlining the supply chain and reducing intermediary and other hidden costs.
The Award-Nominated Work
Temu’s submission for Ecommerce Tech Company of the Year centres on the growth of its Local Seller Programme and the technology ecosystem that supports it.
Launched in 2024 and now active in more than 35 markets, the programme enables local businesses to sell on the platform while leveraging Temu’s marketplace technology and customer reach. It provides access to marketplace tools, logistics integrations and a large customer base, making it easier for sellers to participate in e-commerce and scale their operations.
Designed to simplify the onboarding journey, seller applications typically take around 10 minutes to complete, approvals can be issued within one day, and many sellers begin listing products within 72 hours.
Supporting Business Growth
The impact of the Local Seller Programme can be seen across a range of UK businesses, particularly manufacturers and brand owners looking for more efficient routes to market.
Yorkshire-based furniture manufacturer The Sleep People has used Temu to expand beyond traditional sales channels and explore new growth opportunities. By connecting more directly with consumers, the business can reduce reliance on intermediaries, streamline distribution and improve overall efficiency.
Nottingham-based confectionery company Exploded Sweets has also leveraged the platform to scale its business. As a manufacturer of its own products, the company benefits from direct access to consumers and a simplified route to market, helping increase brand visibility while reducing the complexity often associated with traditional retail distribution.
These examples illustrate how Temu’s marketplace technology helps businesses simplify supply chains, connect directly with consumers and grow more efficiently in a competitive retail environment.
Building a Trusted Marketplace
Alongside supporting business growth, Temu continues to invest in systems designed to strengthen trust across its marketplace.
In 2025, the company committed $100 million globally to enhance product compliance, monitoring and enforcement systems, with plans to double that investment in 2026. These investments support a multi-layered framework designed to help ensure products meet applicable safety and compliance standards while providing sellers with clear requirements and processes.
Sellers are required to provide relevant documentation before listing products, while automated systems use advanced text, image and video recognition technologies to identify potential compliance issues. These measures are supported by human review, warehouse inspections and laboratory testing.
Temu’s latest Transparency Report shows that the vast majority of enforcement actions are identified proactively through its own systems, reflecting a preventative approach to marketplace management and consumer protection.
The company also continues to invest in integrations that simplify day-to-day operations for sellers. Through partnerships with organisations including Royal Mail, Linnworks, ShipStation and Shiptheory, businesses can manage inventory, fulfilment and shipping through systems they already use, reducing friction and enabling more efficient scaling.
What the Shortlisting Means
Being shortlisted for Ecommerce Tech Company of the Year is an important recognition for Temu and the teams behind the platform. The nomination reflects our work undertaken across technology, operations, compliance, partnerships and customer experience to support sellers and strengthen the marketplace experience.
The shortlisting also highlights the continued growth of the Local Seller Programme and its role in helping businesses go digital, sell globally and scale their reach in a cost-effective and efficient way. As Temu continues to invest in seller support, compliance and marketplace innovation, the recognition marks an important milestone in the company’s development.
