At MotorDesk, we believe motor dealers deserve technology built specifically for the way they operate.

MotorDesk is an all-in-one platform that brings together the systems dealers rely on every day, helping them manage their entire business from one integrated system. From vehicle stock management and automotive CRM to accounting integrations, dealer websites, customer communications, vehicle preparation, marketing, social media automation and AI-powered tools, MotorDesk connects every stage of the dealership operation.

MotorDesk was founded five years ago by Neil Skirrow after his own experience of buying a car highlighted just how outdated many dealership systems had become. He saw an industry still using outdated, legacy systems that hadn’t evolved with modern SaaS technology. With over 30 years of SaaS product development experience, Neil set out to build a dealership management platform that was intuitive, connected and designed around the direct needs of motor retailers. MotorDesk has now grown into a rapidly expanding automotive technology company serving dealerships across the world.

Over the last year alone, MotorDesk has grown to a team of nine employees, bringing together expertise from software development, customer success, accountancy and the automotive industry itself. Despite this growth, our focus remains unchanged: building practical dealership management software that helps motor dealers operate more efficiently and grow their businesses.

A Year of Continuous Innovation

Over the last twelve months, we’ve delivered more than 100 software updates across the MotorDesk platform.

These updates have enhanced every area of the platform, including accounting integrations, invoicing, compliance tools, vehicle workflow management, communications, marketplace integrations and dealer websites.

We’ve also significantly expanded our AI capabilities across the platform, introducing intelligent tools that help dealerships generate vehicle descriptions, create SEO-friendly website content, write social media posts, enhance vehicle imagery and streamline everyday tasks.

By embedding AI into the tools dealers already use, we’re helping reduce administration, improve productivity and make it easier for dealerships to create high-quality content at scale.

What makes these developments different is that they are driven directly by customer feedback.

Alongside these software developments, we’ve also introduced onboarding services, premium website management and personalised training programmes to help dealerships maximise the value they receive from the platform.

Why Dealers Need Modern Technology

Automotive dealers face increasing pressure from rising advertising costs, smaller margins, changing regulations and growing competition. At the same time, customer expectations have evolved. Today’s car buyers expect a digital-first experience, with fast responses to enquiries, accurate and up-to-date vehicle information, transparent communication and a seamless buying journey from initial enquiry through to purchase.

We believe dealership software should do more than simply store information. It should help dealers save time, improve customer communication, remain compliant, automate routine tasks and make better business decisions using real-time data.

Looking Ahead

Our nomination recognises what we’ve achieved over the past year, but we’re even more excited about what’s next. The automotive industry is rapidly evolving, that’s why we’re continuing to invest in the MotorDesk platform, supporting dealers with embracing and adapting to new technologies that improve efficiency and enhance the customer experience.

One of our most significant recent developments is API 2.0, which opens up the entire platform and enables dealerships to build almost anything around their MotorDesk data. From custom websites and bespoke reporting dashboards to automated workflows and integrations with other business systems, the possibilities are virtually limitless. Whether dealerships want to automate repetitive tasks, connect existing software or build entirely new solutions, API 2.0 provides the foundations to make it possible.

Building these solutions with MotorDesk allows dealerships to benefit from the security, compliance, data integrity and reliability that underpin our software. Rather than starting from scratch, they can innovate on top of a proven dealership platform, giving them the freedom to build for the future while relying on technology they already trust.

For us, growth has never been about numbers alone. It’s about building long-term relationships with our customers and delivering technology that helps them operate more efficiently, remain compliant and create better experiences for their customers.

What the Shortlist Means to the Team

“Being shortlisted for SaaS Company of the Year is a proud moment for MotorDesk. As a specialist software provider, much of our work happens within the motor trade, so to be shortlisted alongside innovative technology businesses from a wide range of sectors is fantastic.

This recognition reflects the hard work of our employees, the trust our customers place in us and our continued commitment to helping dealerships operate more efficiently through technology.” – Neil Skirrow
